From the first appointment I had with Mr Al Hakim I felt safe and reassured. He is a very gentle and considerate man. I had a Left reverse polarity total shoulder replacement. I was in Holly house for three days and all the staff on all levels were excellent, I'm still having physic treatment with Sophie who is also great. My treatment from start to finish was 100%, my treatment was NHS funded. Pain free at last! Many Thanks. A East

In August 2016 I had a proximal row carpectomy and osteochondral graft to capitate on my right wrist due to advanced osteoarthritis. I was in Whipps Cross and Mr Wissam Al-Hakim did my operation. He explained what he was going to do without rushing. He takes time to answer any questions and puts you at ease. He is a considerate man and an amazing surgeon. My hand was very painful after the operation but not as bad as I thought. I had a splint on for 10 days and then stitches out. The operation was very successful and I have no pain now, whereas, my thumb was very painful especially if I accidentally knocked it. I cannot thank him and his team enough. I might have to have my other hand done at some time but will not be nervous now as I know what to expect when Mr Wissam Al-Hakim does the operation. I highly recommend this amazing surgeon.

Mr Wisam Al-Hakim was very reassuring and not only checked the problem of scarring on one shoulder but also checked my other shoulder which I had injured in the past and had pain. He carried out surgery on the scar which was giving me burning pain and also had not healed properly after surgery in another hospital abroad. It has healed really well now and looks and feels so much better. I will need surgery on my previous injury to replace my other shoulder but he advised me to leave this as long as possible. As and when this becomes necessary I will not hesitate to return to him for treatment.

From being referred by my Consultant Rheumatologist, which followed extensive and diagnoses of having Bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome. Mr Al-Hakim took great interest in my case and immediately put my mind at rest, explaining potential causes, options for treatment, side effects and long term successful recovery rate. As both my hands were effectived, Mr Al-Hakim recommend I undergoing the repair surgery sooner reather then delaying it, as the condition could well worsen and cause further underlying problems. My operation was quickly arranged within weeks. I was only in the theatre for a short time and being reassured throughout. My recovery is going very well thanks only to the reassurance of Mr Al-Hakim and his team at Whipps Cross Hospital. I would say, without any reservation, this professional treatment upto now gives much greater confidence of the upcoming repair operation on my other hand, but not before a further examination appointment with Mr Al-Hakim which he has strongly suggested. Yes, I would highly recommend this excellent Consultant, who explains in laymen terms and listens to all concerns and provides the necessary reassurance to ensure both parties are in agreement with proposed treatment.

I suffered a sports injury to the rotator cuff of my left shoulder which turned out to be a serious tear to one of the main tendons. As a keen sportsman it was vital to my quality of life to not only have the tear repaired but to make a full recovery and continue with an active lifestyle. Doctor Al-Hakim explained the nature of the injury and outlined all the options which ranged from leaving the injury as it was to a full surgical repair. I opted to have the surgery which went extremely well and although there has been a long recovery period which, again was fully explained to me before making my decision, I have made an excellent recovery and am in fact ahead of the anticipated schedule. In addition the after care I received both in relation to post surgery appointments with Dr Al-Hakim and physiotherapy was also superb and greatly assisted in the quality and speed of the overall recovery. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a surgeon and in addition to his medical skills he has a calm and reassuring nature which filled me with confidence as to the outcome of this procedure. In short I will make a full recovery and before long will be back in the gym training as if I had never suffered the injury. A huge thank you to Dr Al-Hakim and his surgical team.
